NHCPR Military Readiness Clinic

Mission

Support readiness with quality healthcare for all service components.

The staff at Military Readiness Clinic NHCPR is dedicated to providing outstanding, high quality care to all of our active and reserve personnel. The MRC has 3 key elements to your medical needs which are Military Medicine, Aviation Medicine, and Periodic Health Assessment (PHA). Our dedicated and motivated staff, up holds the highest standards of professionalism, and work diligently to ensure medical readiness of all personnel onboard NAS Patuxent River.

Periodic Health Assessment (PHA)

Patients can access the most up to date PHA instruction sheet from the homepage of Naval Health Clinic at (https://data.nmcphc.med.navy.mil/PHA/index.aspx) and access the link “PHA Process."

As of July 5, 2017, pre-screening for PHA is now conducted on-line, instead of in person. The steps you need to take to ensure an easy and more efficient means to a smooth transition are as follow:

Step 1: COMPLETE EPHA SURVEY

Have your DoD 10-digit ID number and your 5 digit Unit Identification Code (UIC) on hand.
 
Step 2: CALL PHA OFFICE AT 301-342-3097
You must add your assigned Primary Care Provider to your Relay Health account https://app.mil.relayhealth.com
 
Step 3: BOOK APPOINTMENT

Military Medicine

Military Medicine provides medical care to all active and reserve personnel. Sick-call is appointment base only. We provide the following services (but are not limited to):

  • Follow-up emergency room visits, prescriptions, X-rays, etc.
  • Medical Home Care (Sick call related injuries/illnesses)
  • Specialty Care Referrals
  • Evaluation of PARFQ identified risks
  • PRT waivers 

Aviation Medicine 

We provide services for medical clearance and qualifications through a range of physical exams. All annual physicals require renewal by the last day of the member's birth month. All annual physicals are done in two parts during the 60 days preceding the last day of the member's birth month.

Physical Exams:

  • Flight Physicals (Long Form*, Short Form)
  • Flight Deck Physicals
  • Initial/Candidate Flight Physical*
  • Commissioning Physical*
  • Reenlistment
  • Separation/Retirement
  • Select Passenger*

*= Represents that fasting labs are required. See important notes below for further information.

Flight Physical Process

PART ONE:

Part One is done on a walk in basis Mon, Tue, Thurs, & Fri 0730-1500 and Wed 0930-1500. All preliminary requirements will be initiated to include vision, audio, labs, dental and all others. EPHA waiver requirements.

PART TWO:

After all Part One requirements have been completed, an appointment with the Flight Surgeon/HM will be scheduled at a later date. Most Part Two appointments take place within 1-2 weeks of initiating Part One. Please see important notes below.

Important Notes for All Exams: *Labs: Lab requirements vary based on the type of exam being performed. All exams marked with an asterisk require you to fast from food and beverage for 12 hours. You may drink water during the fasting period. Lab values must be returned prior to scheduling Part Two.

Dental is no longer taking any walk-in visits only appointment based.

All medical visits are official Navy business; therefore Uniform of the Day is required unless on leave status.

What to Bring With You

When arriving for a preliminary exam, please be in uniform of the day and bring a black pen.

When arriving for part two of the physical exam please wear appropriate PT gear.
