Branch Health Clinic Dahlgren

Brief History

BHC Dahlgren is now part of the Naval Health Clinic Patuxent River family. NBHC Dahlgren is located on Dahlgren Naval Support Facility (NSF) Dahlgren in King George County, approximately 50 miles south of Washington, D. C.

The installation dates back to 1918, when it was established as a naval proving ground. The current clinic is a two story brick building built in the early 1940's with a one-story addition added in 1989. Although the building is not currently listed in the Historic Register, it is a contributing facility and is located in the historical area of the installation.

The clinic provides routine and acute family practice health care with limited ancillary services of pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology. It also includes Occupational Health and a Dental clinic for active duty personnel.
